Hi all,

We would like to showcase our cool j2me application on an actual device on monday, but only just submitted a GPL license request. Anyone know if we can use someone elses GPL license or is there a way to speed up the approval process?

Thanks,

Lars

You can use GPL license without any permission, just generate license key in http://www.nutiteq.com/generate_key.html

GPL request form is needed if you really need the sources also. You may need it only if you do the final publishing, when project is more or less ready. We discourage to do any changes in library source unless really needed, for customizations and extensions we have a number of interfaces to be used. If you create something internally also, please let us know, we'd like to incorporate useful add-ons to the general version, so also others can take use of it.

I am wondering why you require this form to get GPL sources. Why not just host the source code on the site? Best would be a read-only repository, such as on sites like sourceforge.net or code.google.com.

Good question. We just need to see who is using it, and actually suggest not to use the sources; use binary releases instead. You can also use library for free for GPL project without the form or using source, just generate GPL license for your project.

If there are missing features (APIs) or issues where you need source, then preferred method for us would be to solve them in the original source, so you'd have updated binary. Otherwise we have too little feedback what the issues are, new features needed etc.
