Blank Tiles?

I have probably missed something really obvious, but using the sample included in the ZIP with the Android Map Lib, I only get blank maptiles. I have set the map center to be new york city. It happily loads tiles but they are all blank/beige.
I tried getting my own app license as well but it didn't help. It does the same for OSM or CloudMade.

Can you get library log? It should reveal URLs from where map tiles are loaded, and this might give direction what to check.
